ESU-Lock Haven Baseball

EAST STROUDSBURG - Brett Reynolds hit a pair of doubles and drove in three runs during a nine-run fourth-inning rally as East Stroudsburg University pounded Lock Haven, 18-8, in the opening game of a non-conference baseball doubleheader Sunday.

The Bald Eagles (12-8) came back to take the second contest, 7-2, scoring five runs in the seventh inning.

The Warriors had five players with two or more hits led by Matt Harmic, who went 3 for 4, and Steve Harris, 3 for 5 with three runs-batted-in. Reynolds was 2 for 3 with four RBIs; Tadgh LaBar 2 for 3 with a double and a triple and Scott Roth 2 for 4 with three RBIs.

Ahead by only 4-3, ESU broke it open in the fourth inning, sending 13 batters to the plate. Roth belted a two-run triple to open the floodgates.

Lock Haven battled back and closed to 13-8 before ESU Coach Roger Barren went to his bullpen. Reliever Mike Pavolko came in and struck out four straight batters in an inning and a third and Jeff Wagner fanned two batters in the seventh inning.

In the second game, the Bald Eagles' Kevin Conklin pitched a four-hitter for six and two thirds inning and also singled and scored on Jason Laubach's double for go-ahead run in the seventh.

The Warriors managed only single run in the fourth and fifth inning on singles by Joe Sobeski and Anthony Piazza.

ESU's Gordy Kocher went six innings, allowing only six hit and one earned run while striking out seven.
