ESU-Longwood Baseball

FARMVILLE, Va. - Longwood used early scoring in the first game and late scoring in the second to sweep a season-opening baseball doubleheader over East Stroudsburg University, 13-1 and 7-5, Saturday.

The Lancers scored five runs in the first inning of the opener and never looked back. Josh Herrman was the team's top hitter with a homer and a single and four runs-batted-in. Len Makarczyk went 2-for-2 for ESU with a double.

In the second game, Longwood rallied from a 4-1 deficit with three runs in the fifth inning and three in the sixth. Makarczyk again was the Warriors' top hitter with a homer, double and three RBIs.
