RECOGNIZING OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTIONS EAST STROUDSBURG UNIVERSITY
The Alumni Relations & Development Office is seeking to renew its pool of candidates for various annual Alumni Association awards.
How to Nominate Someone
Alumni and friends of East Stroudsburg University are invited to submit nominations for any of the awards listed below. To nominate a candidate for any of the awards, send a letter of nomination or e-mail the Alumni Office. The mailing address is:

The letter should include the nominees name, address and phone, your address and phone, and a statement as to the candidates qualifications for the award. Include supporting documentation where possible.
THE AWARDS
The Great Teacher Award This award is presented on Alumni Day to active or retired faculty members who have demonstrated superior teaching ability and extraordinary commitment to students. The recipient need not be an alumnus.
Conrad "Skip" Idukas Service Award This award is presented on Alumni Day to someone who has made a significant contribution to the University and/or the Alumni Association through exceptional volunteer service. The recipient need not be an alumnus.
Helen G. Brown Honor Award This award presented on Alumni Day honors an ESU graduate whose extraordinary accomplishments in life have brought honor to the University and pride to all alumni.
Jim Barniak Award This Alumni Association Athletic Achievement Award is presented during half-time ceremonies at the Homecoming football game. It recognizes an ESU graduate for exceptional achievement beyond college in the field of athletics. This award is designed to recognize those who might otherwise qualify for admission to the ESU Athletic Hall of Fame, but do not meet the requirement of having been a star athlete in intercollegiate sports as an undergraduate.
Dr. George Thompson, Jr. Award This award is presented during half-time ceremonies at the Homecoming football game. The award recognizes exceptional accomplishment or life achievement in areas of community and human relations along with a demonstrated commitment to promoting the mission of East Stroudsburg University. Recipients will embody multi-cultural and diverse values, and need not be an alumnus.
Young Alumni Achievement Award This award is presented during a spring luncheon. It honors more recent graduates who have demonstrated exceptional ability and made significant strides in their chosen professional careers, or whose extraordinary accomplishments have brought honor to the University and pride to all alumni. Young alumni must have graduated within the last twenty years.
George Ockershausen Student Award for Service to the Alumni Association This award is presented in recognition of an ESU student who has provided exceptional service in a volunteer capacity to the Office of Alumni Relations & Development. The Alumni Association is pleased to acknowledge extraordinary public service by aspiring alumni and encourages continued commitment to the Associations goals by bringing these individuals to the attention of the academic community and the public.
