The Genomic Revolution - "Genome science will have a real impact on all our lives - and even more on the lives of our children"  - President Bill Clinton
We are living in a time when science is poised to improve the quality of life worldwide - from the food we eat, to the medicines we use, to the environment we live in.  ESU's progressive Science and Technology Programs give our graduates the skills to live in, work in, and contribute to a dynamic global society.

The New Frontier - The ESU Department of Chemistry offers two programs that prepare students for study at the interface of Chemistry and Biology.
Both the Biochemistry and Chemical Biotechnology programs provide a solid foundation in the basic sciences including chemistry, physics, mathematics and biology.  The Biochemistry program is a traditional program that provides students the option to enter the workforce or seek additional professional, medical or graduate training in the field of Biochemistry.  The Chemical Biotechnology program is designed to focus on emerging fields of study in biotechnology.  Students will be equipped to obtain employment in the biotech or  traditional pharmaceutical industries as well as seek advanced professional, medical or graduate training.

Flexibility - We offer a solid foundation in science with the flexibility to discover and pursue your specific interests.
While some students know exactly where they are headed, many will enjoy the flexibility offered in our programs.  Each program provides a common core that gives strong foundation in science and mathematics.  After completing the core, a student will have the tools to focus on a specific area later in his/her undergraduate career.  Students in the program will be prepared to obtain a Biochemistry, Chemical Biotechnology or traditional Chemistry major or even major in other areas of the sciences.  Students also have the opportunity to participate in undergraduate research with faculty active in competitive areas.
